  • Can I get a loan if I have bad credit?

    Although most banks won’t loan money to someone who has a bad credit score, many non-traditional lenders will still consider your application regardless of credit standing. They will assess your entire financial situation, from income to debts to spending habits.

  • What is stamp duty?

    Stamp duty is a form of government tax that is charged on certain transactions, including purchasing a home. Stamp duty costs vary depending on location, what you are purchasing, and how much the purchase costs.

  • What happens if I miss a loan repayment?

    A missed loan repayment will be reflected in your credit score. This could make it harder to access other financial services in the future such as other loans or credit cards.

  • Is anyone exempt from stamp duty?

    You could be exempt from stamp duty depending on where you live and how much your purchase costs. New South Wales and Victoria have recently introduced legislation that exempts first home buyers from paying stamp duty if their purchase is under a certain amount. Check regulations in your state to find out if you are exempt from paying stamp duty.

  • What determines borrowing power?

    How much you can borrow for a home loan depends on a variety of factors. Some things a lender will take into consideration are your income, current debts you have, whether you have any dependents (and if so, how many), location, and the type of loan you want to take out.
